Premier Wynne's Cap-and-Trade carbon reduction plan lauded by GreenSaver

Monday, April 13th 2015 9:15:45am

(April 13, 2015, Toronto, ON) Vladan Veljovic, President and CEO of GreenSaver was quick to praise Premier Wynne and Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Glen Murray on a new Ontario cap-and-trade plan for carbon emissions and wished them success at the climate change discussions in Quebec City.

Mr. Veljovic citing his 20 years of experience in the energy and environmental sector in Canada, US and Europe and observed, "We must not delay in reducing our carbon and greenhouse gas emissions. The steps announced today, should be supported by all Ontarians wherever they live or whatever side of the Ontario Legislature they sit. Climate change is the biggest challenge our society faces and we must all work together."

GreenSaver is not new to the idea of carbon reduction and energy saving. It has been making a practical difference for more than 25 years as Ontario’s leading not-for-profit energy efficiency organization. With over 150 staff and contactors, GreenSaver delivers energy conservation programs for Ontario electric and gas utilities, homeowners and businesses, helping them reduce their carbon, greenhouse gas, energy and environmental footprint. GreenSaver has helped more than 70,000 Ontario families and businesses reduce their energy cost and remove over 100,000 tonnes of GHG and carbon emissions.

Mr. Veljovic concluded, "Leadership by the Wynne government on this issue will be welcomed by Ontarians. Every day as the GreenSaver staff undertakes carbon emission reducing retrofits of homes and apartments across Ontario, we hear from people concerned that not enough is being done. Hopefully the new strategy in Ontario will be a decisive factor in achieving that."
